Waxing
Everyone has a different level of skin sensitivity and pain tolerance. Typically, a Brazilian/Bikini wax is slightly painful right when the strip is pulled, and it quickly dissipates. Our proprietary wax is designed to minimize the pain, as well as our service providers are well-trained to minimize the pain. We do everything to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
Grow your hair so it is a minimum of ¼ inch and equal to or less than ½ inch. A few days before your appointment, lightly exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs. The day before your appointment avoid exfoliation, tanning, sun exposure, or hot baths that can dry your skin or make it sensitive.
The day of your appointment, come with clean, dry skin. Avoid wearing lotions or creams. To avoid further sensitivity, avoid caffeine or alcohol and take an over-the-counter pain reliever 30 minutes before.
The hair needs to be about ¼ to ½ an inch in length. On average give yourself a minimum of 3 weeks of growth. The hair should be long enough to easily gather between your thumb and index finger. Hair that is too short can result in hair snapping/breaking rather than being removed which may lead to more irritation.
If the hair is longer than ½ inch it can pull a little more and make it slightly more uncomfortable. We recommend trimming the hair before your appointment. The best way to trim the hair is by using a comb as your guide, comb the hair upwards and use scissors or clippers to trim off the hair that sticks out above the comb.
For facial waxing services, you should wax every 2 to 3 weeks. For all other body waxing services, you should be coming in every 4 to 6 weeks.
Yes, you can, however, keep in mind you are more sensitive prior to your period, so try to avoid coming in right before your cycle begins. If you come in during your cycle, we just ask that you wear a tampon.
Yes, we guarantee our work. We will touch up area within 5 days, free of charge.
Yes, soft wax and hard wax are different. Hard wax is named after its ability to harden over hair follicles without adhering to the skin as it cools for less painful waxing. We believe hard wax is better because it is (1) less painful, it is (2) more accurate to control the flow of material and the hair removed, and it is (3) more delicate and less irritating for intimate areas like the bikini and Brazilian waxing, and it is (4) faster so the experience is shorter. All normal skin and hair types, from fine to coarse, can benefit from hard wax.
Yes, sugaring, and hard wax are different. Sugaring and hard waxing use different materials. Hard waxing is used for all skin types, excels at removing coarse hair, does not leave a sticky/sugary residue behind, and tends to be less expensive per treatment than sugaring.
Dermaplane Services
Stay hydrated by drinking lots of water.
- Cleanse: Use a gentle cleanser and warm, not hot, water. Splash water on face. Do not use abrasive cleansers, wash cloths, Clarisonic, or hot shower spray for the first 24-48 hours. Do not use cleansers, serums or spot treatments containing retinol, salicylic acid or Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO) for 5 days following treatment.
- Tone: Hydrating and brightening toners applied with a cotton round will penetrate deeper into the skin. If you are sensitive, try all products on a small area before applying full face.
- Serums: Active ingredients in serums penetrate much better now, so you’ll see quicker results. Ask your esthetician about the right serum(s) for your skin. Please do not use Retin-A for 5 days pre and post dermaplaning. For darker skin tones: use a brightening serum. Ask your esthetician for recommendations.
- Moisturizer: Choose a hydrating moisturizer and apply twice daily. It’s common for skin to feel tight but dewy to the touch. This is good and will only last a short time. Moisturizer locks in skin’s hydration with the added absorption of its active ingredients. For darker skin tones: use a 1% hydrocortisone cream for 5 days following treatment to calm inflammation.
- SPF: Your skin is more vulnerable to UV rays after exfoliation. SPF is essential to protect your skin – even on cloudy days when UVA (aging) rays are present.
- DO: Avoid sun exposure as much as possible. If you must be in the sun, apply and reapply SPF every 2 hours, wear a hat and seek shade.
- DO: Delay exposure to excessive heat, heavy workouts, steam rooms and saunas for 24-48 hours post treatment.
- DO: Wait 7 days before having any facial waxing done. Waxing may be done prior to dermaplaning. The esthetician will only dermaplane up to the waxing border so as not to over stress your skin.
- DO: Schedule your appointments 4 weeks apart to optimize results.
- DO: Call your aesthetician with both compliments and concerns.
- DO: Enjoy your new look.

Permanent Makeup – Eyebrow
There are so many reasons to get permanent eyebrows and they can be summarized by you waking up looking beautiful, feeling confident and with a lower-maintenance beauty routine. Look your best, save time, save your emotions, reduce stress, and live gracefully glamorous all day, every day.
Applying permanent eyebrows is a highly technical and skilled procedure. A bad eyebrow treatment can be painful and look undesirable permanently. Bare Necessity uses a combination of the highest-quality, premium supplies matched with the most current education from thought leaders in the industry, great skill and the desire to give you the highest level of confidence and beauty. Enhance your natural beauty and feel more confident with permanent eyebrows from Bare Necessity.
The application process is very relaxing – like receiving a spa service. We sketch the eyebrows onto your face to achieve your desired look that is uniquely you. This is the longest and most important step in the process. This is not a rushed procedure; a meticulous approach is required and as a customer you should desire and expect this. Once confirmed we apply a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort. You lie down on a plush, premium, top-of-the line, massage table and have your eyes closed the entire time. We use a specialized tool and technique to implant the pigment into the skin. Expect the application to be virtually painless and take approximately 2 hours.
While the common term used is “permanent”, realize that all pigment fades and that is just a fact. Permanent eyebrows tend to last longer than most other beauty/cosmetic procedures while comparably priced. All permanent makeup fades due to the exfoliation process, this is the process of the epidermis continually shedding and regenerating itself. For most people, permanent eyebrows will last for years, and for some it may need to be touched-up annually. There are many marketing terms out there like “eyebrow embroidery”, “eyebrow feathering”, “eyebrow etching”, “cosmetic tattooing”, “permanent eyebrows tattoo”, “permanent makeup”, “semi-permanent makeup”, “micro-pigmentation”, “dermapigmentation”, etc. and they all mean the same thing.
Bare Necessity is dedicated to using the highest-quality, premium supplies available to assure you of the best, longest-lasting results. Keep in mind that pigment and ink are different. Pigment is specifically designed for your face, is primarily used in permanent makeup and you want to use pigment so that your results look natural. In this specific situation permanent eyeliner and permanent eyeliner tattoo are not the same – if they use tattoo ink rather than pigment, and you want to use pigment for a natural, powdery finish.
Yes. Bare Necessity meets or exceeds the strict sanitation and sterilization guidelines followed by medical professionals, and are in accordance with the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (ADOSH) Bloodborne Pathogens guidelines as well as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Eyelash Extensions
Eyelash extensions applied by Bare Necessity instantly give you younger and refreshed-looking eyes. You will wake up looking beautiful, feeling confident and with a lower-maintenance beauty routine. Enhance your natural beauty, protect your eyes and feel more confident with eyelash extensions from Bare Necessity.

Your lower lashes will be covered. The extensions will be then applied to your upper lashes. Your esthetician will adhere one lash extension to one of your natural lashes; each lash one at a time. Expect the initial, full set application process to take approximately 2 hours.
When applied by Bare Necessity, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. There are many factors that affect the growth and strength of all hair including but not limited to genetics, cleansing products, seasonal changes, athletic activities, and cosmetics. To maintain a full appearance, it is recommended to get a refill every 2-3 weeks. Refill appointments require approximately 60 minutes.
